Fair Trade Project

Agriculture could turn big profits, but for the majority of small-scale farmers in the developing world, the benefits of their hard work and investments are small.
Isolated from global markets, the path leading from them to your table is long and filled with many middle-men.
As a result, little of the money you spend on food actually reaches them. They are forced to sell their crops at very cheap prices, barely meeting costs.
For these farmers, their hard work only drives them deeper into poverty, instead of helping them thrive and develop.
Islamic Relief USA has teamed with Equal Exchange to offer these farmers a different path to the market, bringing them closer to us and delivering more of our coffee dollars to them.
In this interfaith initiative, Islamic Relief USA and Equal Exchange purchase coffee and other crops directly from farmers in the poorest regions of the world while adhering to Fair Trade standards.
Through this model, food becomes a delicious and powerful tool to aid and care for small farmers and their families.
The Islamic Relief USA Fair Trade Project provides the perfect opportunity for you and your congregation to join hands with small farmer communities across the world.
You can help a struggling small-scale farmer in Mali by purchasing fairly-traded coffee, tea, chocolate, and snacks, and by learning about how your consumer choices impact the global community.
For every pound of fairly traded products that a mosque or organization orders, Islamic Relief USA will place fifteen cents in a Small Farmer Fund that will be donated to a hunger or sustainability project at the end of the year.
Join the fight against poverty and injustice and buy fairly traded products brought to you by Islamic Relief USA and Equal Exchange.
